Our Approach
HHN2L's work is grounded in a research-informed Theory of Change, developed in partnership with the Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality (a unit of the Forum for Youth Investment), one of the leading evaluators of youth development programs in the United States.
We center four protective factors — the strongest predictors of youth resilience:
-
Belonging — Cyphers and cohorts where youth feel seen, supported, and connected.
-
Voice — Songwriting and storytelling that gives young people language for what they have lived.
-
Mentorship — Trusted adults whose authority comes from being heard, not from talking down.
-
Civic Engagement — Young people using their art to drive real change in their schools and communities.

Impact That Reaches Nationally and Globally
HHN2L creates impact wherever the work goes. Louisville classrooms, Kentucky state parks, LA stages, international conferences in Berlin — culturally grounded, youth-led work produces the same outcome: young people with voice, belonging, and the power to lead.

Vibrant Learning with YOLA
Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA)
A program of the Los Angeles Philharmonic
HHN2L is engaged in a three-year educational partnership with YOLA focused on cross-disciplinary music learning and youth-centered instruction. This collaboration examines how culturally responsive teaching practices and orchestral education can intersect to create vibrant learning environments that elevate student engagement, voice, and creative growth across musical traditions.

Educational Opportunities at Public Academic Spaces
Hip Hop EX LAB: Won't Stop, Can't Stop
Harvard University
Students developed critical literacy, creative inquiry, and public communication skills that prepared them to present their learning in national academic spaces. This experience demonstrates how student-centered instruction supports confidence, articulation, and readiness for advanced learning environments.

Global Learning
(Student-Led Facilitation)
Education First
Berlin, Germany
In partnership with Education First, HHN2L brings READ. HEAL. FLOW. to Berlin, empowering students to lead learning across cultures through story, dialogue, and creative expression.
In this international setting, students step into facilitator roles—guiding peers through youth-created texts, reflective conversations, and expressive writing. Together, they explore identity, belonging, and global connection, using art and voice as tools for understanding and healing beyond borders.
